Bubnytsky rocks
Dovbush Rocks (also Bubnyski Rocks) is an interesting and unique natural landmark in the Carpathian forests situated in Ivano-Frankivska oblast near Bubnyshche village.
The landscape here is represented by two types of rocks: One group of them forms a complex, accompanied by solitary rocks resembling the natural watchtowers.
The main group of cliffs is up to 30 meters high. Some individual cliffs have got their own names. The highest one is 40 30 meters high and is called Tulip. Some are common names – such as Doll or Windmill, some are mystical – Viy, Witch, some are very romantic – Bridge through Eternity, Life is Wonderful, Heartful Relations, but there are also quite incomprehensible names, such as Barabaka Dog’s Kiss or Villains From Space.
In olden times the rocky giants were used by people as pagan chapels and in the aeon of Old Rus – as a monastery. Christian monks found a place of refuge from the worldly life in the caves inside the cliffs. Here even was a guarding fortress that survived the Mongol-Tartar invasion and remained here until the 16th century.
The complex of rocks was used as a shelter by the Ukrainian Robin Hood – Oleksa Dovbush with his partisan oprichniks. That’s why these rocks remained to memorize the name of this hero. (Thanks a lot Taras Tarasov for translating)

Skały Dowbusza lub Skały Bubnickie to ciekawy i unikalny pomnik przyrody położony w Karpatskich lasach Iwano-Frankowskiego obwodu w pobliżu wsi Bubnyszcze.
Krajobraz tutaj tworzą dwa rodzaje skał: grupa, która tworzy kompleks, oraz pojedyncze głazy, które wyglądają jak naturalne wieże strażnicze. Główna grupa skał ma do 30 m wysokości. Niektóre skały mają już nazwę. Najwyższy - 40 metrów - nazywa się Tulipan. Są zwykłe imiona – Lalka, Wiatrak, są mistyczne – Rzęsy, Wiedźma, są romantyczne – Most nad Wiecznością, Życie Jest Piękne, Relacje z Sercem, ale są też dość niejasne nazwe, takie jak Pocałunek Psa-Barabaki lub Złodzieje z Kosmosu. Kamienne olbrzymy służyły jako pogańskie sanktuarium, a następnie starożytny ruski klasztor. W jaskiniach skalnych chrześcijańscy mnisi ukrywali się przed świeckim światem. Istniała też twierdza wartownicza, która przetrwała inwazję mongolsko-tatarską i funkcjonowała do XVI wieku.
W tym miejscu ukrywał się przed wrogami ukraiński Robin Hood – Oleksa Dovbusz i jego lojalni wojownicy opryshki. Właśnie dlatego skały zachowały swoją nazwę na cześć tego bohatera. (Wielkie podziękowania dla Tarasa Tarasow za tłumaczenie w języku polskim)

Dowbusch (auch Bubnitzki) Felsen ist ein interessantes und einzigartiges Naturdenkmal im Karpatenwald in der Region Iwano-Frankiwsk in der Nähe des Dorfes Bubnyshctsche. Die Landschaft hier besteht aus zwei Arten von Felsen: einer Gruppe von Felsen, die einen Komplex bilden, und es gibt auch einzelne Felsen, die wie natürliche Wachtürme aussehen.
Die Hauptgruppe der Felsen ist bis zu 30 m hoch. Einige Felsen haben bereits einen Namen. Der höchste ist 40 Meter und heißt Tulpe. Es gibt die üblichen Namen – Puppe und Windmühle, es gibt mystische – Augenlid, Hexe, romantisch eines – Brücke durch die Ewigkeit, Leben ist wunderschön, Herzbeziehungen und auch gibt es ziemlich unklare Namen wie Kuss des Barabaka-Hund oder Kosmisch Verbrecher.
Die Steinriesen dienten als heidnische Götzentempel, damals ein altes russisches Kloster. In den Felsenhöhlen versteckten sich christliche Mönche vor der säkularen Welt. Es gab auch eine Wachfestung, die die mongolisch-tatarische Invasion überlebte und bis ins 16. Jahrhundert dauerte.
An diesem Ort der ukrainische Robin Hood – Oleksa Dowbusch und seine treuen Opryshcki-Krieger sich vor ihren Feinden versteckten. Deshalb haben die Felsen ihren Namen behalten um dieses Helden zu Ehren. (Vielen Dank an Taras Tarasov für die Übersetzung ins Deutsche)
