Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary/ Saint Valentine

The church in Navariya was built in the Baroque style by the famous architect Bernard Meretin.

In the XVII century, the relics of Saint Valentine were kept in the church, and a side altar was consecrated in his honour.

However, the history of the Roman Catholic parish of Navariya dates back to the beginning of the seventeenth century. Back then, there was a wooden church in Navariya, which was destroyed during an attack by the Crimean Tatars. The church was rebuilt, but the new building did not stand for long; in 1630, the church burned down. In 1641, the construction of a brick church began, which was funded by Elżbieta Humnicka from Zymnia Voda. Four years later the Catholic church was consecrated, but in 1648 the church was damaged by the Cossacks of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. Although the church was rebuilt, its condition only deteriorated over the years. Thus, in the 1740s, the Veniavsky family began construction of a new temple.

The church was inactive from 1946 to 1991. For some time the church was used as a warehouse. Some religious items from the church were taken to the church in Uraż, Poland

The plan of church is a three-nave, four-pillar basilica with a pentagonal apse and symmetrically arranged square side rooms. The main façade is crowned with a high Baroque pediment decorated with white stone vases. The Corinthian order was used in the design of the facades.

The bell tower stands southwest of the main façade of the church. It was designed by the famous Lviv architect and sculptor Petro Poleiovskyi. The building is constructed of brick. It is rectangular in plan, with a developed Baroque fronton with a single bell opening. The bell tower is decorated with pilasters, cornices of complex profile, vases and other details.

It is considered that this architectural ensemble belongs to the Lviv school of architecture.

The presbytery preserves illusionist paintings by Antonio Tavellio from around 1770 depicting biblical scenes and cartouches of the coats of arms of the founders: Roch and Ursula Wieniawski. There are three wooden altars and four confessionals, and the marble tombstone of the founder of the previous church, noblewoman Elżbieta Gumicka is in the presbytery.
